Making Mental Health Care More Accessible
Did you know that before I was a counselor, my first career was in event planning? For a LONG time that was my dream job. (And some days, it still is!) Shortly after finishing my undergrad degree, I had a super unique position with a nonprofit in the outdoor industry, focused on women’s empowerment. My job was creating and running their women’s leadership and adventure conference in Colorado.
These events were awesome. We brought together professional female athletes, authors, outdoor influencers (before that was really even a designated thing!), and other inspirational women and healers. Women from around the world came to participate. The weekends were packed with various motivational and self-discovery workshops and gave women opportunities to test their physical, mental, and emotional limits with outdoor activities like rock climbing, yoga, stand up paddleboarding, etc.
It was in this space that I grew to wonder more about adventure therapy for healing trauma, as I found it healing for my own. It was also in this space that I grew a desire to connect on an even deeper level with people by working as a trauma therapist. I wanted to be directly in the trenches with people, rather than creating spaces for trench-work to occur. (Little did I know at that time, that as a trauma therapist I’d have to do both anyway!) I eventually went to grad school, got a master’s in clinical counseling, and boom here we are now.
Introducing mental health & wellness events at Sea Glass
Fast forward 10 years: I’m so excited to come full circle and announce that Sea Glass is hosting our first two mental health workshops in a few weeks, and I’d love for you to be there! In expanding Sea Glass from a solo to a group practice, I had the vision to make excellent mental healthcare more accessible by offering unique ways that people could experience healing, access accurate information from experts, and make meaningful changes in their life. I remain convinced that weekly therapy does not fit everyone’s lifestyle, life season, or budget. That’s a large part of where offering Intensive EMDR therapy came from. It fills a much needed-gap in the mental health world for treatment options other than typical hour-per-week therapy.
In the new year, Sea Glass is going to begin offering workshops, support groups, and other events to support your mental wellness, emotional wellbeing, and healthy relationships. There’s nothing like healthy community for relational healing and education to empower. I’m so excited for the gaps this will fill and for the people we will serve. If there’s something you’d love to see us bring to life, let us know!
Protecting Your Holiday Spirit
Our first workshop is Protecting Your Holiday Spirit. This event will be available two times - one at the end of November and one at the beginning of December - to give you options that best fit your schedule. Join us for practical tips on creating a realistic self-care plan; setting boundaries with your time, budget, and conversation; strategies for coping in the moment; and navigating grief and loss during the holiday season.
Whether you’re carrying the weight of trauma, navigating pain and shame around intimacy, or feeling buried under the mental load of daily life, you don't have to keep doing it alone. Profound healing is possible, intimacy is worth fighting for, and the right support can change everything.
Welcome to Sea Glass. Here, the work is short-term, focused, and designed to help you step out of survival mode and into a life that actually feels good. Choose from Intensive EMDR therapy, sex therapy for Christians, or Fair Play coaching - all effective techniques grounded in the neurobiology of healing, connection, and lasting change. Virtual therapy services are available to adults located in Ohio. Fair Play coaching is open to couples anywhere in the USA.
