Intensive EMDR + IFS in Ohio

A truly holistic approach to healing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR therapy) is an evidence-based therapy protocol that addresses past, present, and future memories. EMDR works with your brain’s natural way of storing memories and helps to reprocess them more effectively - so they’re not as distressing to bring up. EMDR is well-known for treating all types of trauma, anxiety, depression, performance anxiety, chronic pain, and more.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based, holistic psychotherapy model that promotes internal peace and greater self-awareness. A key tenet of IFS is that we all have many different parts to ourselves, and all parts are inherently good. IFS therapy is helpful for reducing symptoms of anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and pain. It’s also helpful for regulating emotions, improving relationships, and improving problem-solving skills, addressing specific issues or recurrent patterns of behavior. IFS emphasizes curiosity and compassion.

Both EMDR and IFS are extensively researched and effective for treating a range of mental health and relationship concerns. Combining the power of EMDR and IFS therapy offers a powerful and effective healing approach. Our Certified EMDR therapists near Columbus, Ohio are skilled at integrating IFS into EMDR treatment, leading to better outcomes for our clients.

All parts of you are welcome

EMDR’s earlier phases involve psychoeducation, building mindfulness and self-regulation skills, and learning to differentiate between body sensations, thoughts, and emotions. You may notice that a part of you is interested in therapy, while a part of you is hesitant to move forward - maybe afraid that if you heal from the past or forget what happened, you’ll get hurt again.

This is common when treating trauma and PTSD. Oftentimes, we may have a part that’s not yet ready to heal. IFS can gently help clients prepare for EMDR reprocessing phases by building a sense of self-compassion and understanding for parts of ourselves.

Weekly or Intensive EMDR + IFS Therapy

Most of our Intensive EMDR retreats incorporate IFS-informed therapy approaches. Depending on your treatment goals, your therapist may focus more heavily on IFS techniques during your EMDR intensive. We offer integrated EMDR and IFS therapy in both traditional weekly therapy and Intensive EMDR therapy formats.
